Just Art Stuff

Personal (Behind the Scenes)

Jay Puplava is a multimedia artist who explores self-acceptance through the complexities of identity, drawing on psychology, physiology, and common thread narratives. Primarily working with photography and print media, Jay creates visual narratives that invite viewers to confront difficult subjects. With a solid technical and educational background, the artist fosters a space for deep engagement with these themes.

Recently, Jay's practice has evolved to emphasize iteration and the veiling of portraits, creating a distancing effect that redefines traditional portraiture. This approach encourages contemplation, inviting viewers to navigate the intricate relationship between image and self. Through the unraveling of trauma and personal narratives, Jay’s art transforms vulnerability into a powerful statement of resilience, inviting audiences to reflect on their own journeys toward self-acceptance and understanding.
